EDIT: This design was never really completed. The current theme under developements is being called ‘The Darkness’ and I will post about it upon completion..

Wow, I realized the site just got a new design not too long ago, but here we are with a brand new theme. ‘Woody’ is what I am calling it and I think it presents a different and unique image. The Light colored design I had done just didn’t seem like ‘me’. Kinda maybe something you would see at free-templates or whatever.. Well this theme looks alot more personal, and if it doesn’t appeal to the ‘professional’ clients, I will just live with that. As far as a professional themed website goes, hopefully they can find what there looking for in the portfolio. I like my site, and I guess thats what its about.

Anyway, with this new theme up and utilizing more features every day, I will be adding some web-apps, downloads, and some custom desktop backgrounds and icons to promote the site and give people a reason to visit. I’ve always been open about sucking at blogging, but I’m going to try and pick that up some more also. Maybe its because I feel like I am talking to myself, I dunno. As I make more and more dot-comrads (internet-people) I will feel more obligated to post.

Anyway, if theres any life out there, please do me a favor and throw up a comment on what you think of this dark layout. Allthough im adding more and more features all the time, here are some things that stick out in my mind:

Is anyone calling Steve Pavlina a guru yet? On his blog he’s now added 33 rules that’ll boost your productivity.

What’s interesting about his list, because there are many, is the manner he’s phrased his introduction.

Steve begins by talking about heuristics. These are, very simply, little rules that guide you to a bigger solution or goal.

As you take action you begin to explore the solution space, which deepens your understanding of the problem. As you gain knowledge about the problem, you can make course corrections along the way, gradually improving your chances of finding a solution.

Thinking about self-improvements in this way allow some room to breath. You’re not trying to solve a big problem with one big solution, because sometimes, as Steve says, you don’t really know what the big problem is.

As for productivity, it’s very general. So in attempting actions that could improve your productivity, you’ll find an easier path to your productive goals.

Well im still wrapping up the process of making everything work. So what better of a way, and less effort on my part, to update my site with some interesting content. Heres a cool video from youtube. This here video is made by a Norwegian dude named Lasse Gjertsen, and has so far been viewed over 1.8 million times on YouTube (earning the highest user ratings in just a month). It’s a stop-motion video of Lasse “playing” the drums and piano. The trick is that the tune is actually created by Lasse’s crafty editing, rather than musical talent. He recorded himself playing each note individually, and then arranged them on his computer to create the whole piece. Pretty cool stuff. Click ‘read more’ to view the video.

EDIT: I guess the Video has been taken down.

EA Sports is often tagged as releasing sequels as mere roster updates, Fight Night is not that case. This game absolutely perfects the boxing genre in a game. The visuals are the best available on the 360 and no game has been able to remotely come near the player models in this game. Full facial animations and body reactions for each punch are all flawlessly modeled. The incredible sounds of players barely breathing as they get tired, and bones cracking as you knock them to the ground over and over add to the experience. The controls are fluid and I wouldn’t know what to add. I honestly see no way to improve the game as far as mechanics go. EA has perfected the Boxing genre with Fight Night and if they can create a lag-free environment online this game is an instant 10. With the 50% chance I play a match full of lag as is now, the game gets a solid 9 though.

Visual: 10/10
Sound: 9/10
Gameplay: 10/10
Replayability: 9/10

I hate RPGs. They slowly drag you along an endless storyline, you spend as much time reading the story as you do actually playing, and most of the “playing” involves numerous tedious tasks and boring lengths of time doing nothing but trekking across the game’s map from one tedious task to the next.

My Rating: 8/10

I hate RPGs. They slowly drag you along an endless storyline, you spend as much time reading the story as you do actually playing, and most of the “playing” involves numerous tedious tasks and boring lengths of time doing nothing but trekking across the game’s map from one tedious task to the next.

So, I rented Oblivion mainly just to see what all the fuss was about, and because I had already rented just about every other 360 game to date.

Long story short: I liked it.

Just the open-ended book, So many directions to go in, kept me interested. Screw the main story line. What is an oblivion gate? lol.

Oblivion did have some of the tediousness of traveling back and forth across the map to for small tasks, but mostly it was fairly constant action, with great battles. There are hundreds of side missions you can accomplish as you follow the game’s main story, and you can tackle whatever mission you want whenever you want.

The graphics are fantastic, and there is just so much to strive for — from increasing your character’s skills and levels, to gaining Acheivement points, to just FINISHING the game — that it keeps you hooked.

With that said, after I accomplished the game’s main storyline, I grew bored quickly. There were still MANY side goals I had not yet accomplished, but I no longer had the desire to play for hours and hours to be the leader of the Fighter’s Guild, or whatever. At that point, if I had bought the game, it would have been destined for my game cabinet, never to see my 360 again.

So, coming from a guy that doesn’t like RPG’s, Oblivion is definitely worth renting. If you do like RPG’s, then you probably already own it. Big RPG gamers could likely play it forever, as I’m sure it would take that long to accomplish everything, and even after that there are about 10 other races of characters to choose from, and start all over with different skills and powers.
